DeWitt now offers wireless internet access throughout the facility.  If you have a laptop and would like access please call the IT dept at x1396

DeWitt's facility is now a wireless hotspot.  We offer our residents free access to the Internet through our high speed wireless system.  We also have a number of wireless cards that will connect your laptop to the internet if the laptop does not have a built in Wi-Fi card.  Please contact a member of the IT staff at x1396 for assistance.

Mandatory Network Security Procedure

Beginning in 2005, in order to connect your personal computer to the DeWitt's Wireless Network you must comply with the following procedure in order to connect. Your laptop must be clear of viruses, and if using the MS Windows operating system, it must be up-to-date with Windows service packs and critical updates.  Please contact a member of DeWitt's IT department to ensure your laptop is secure and we will enable wireless access for you.

Failure to comply with the above procedures will result in denial of access to DeWitt's Wireless Network.

Wireless Policy:

Wireless networks use a finite and shared part of the radio spectrum. To ensure that all members of the community have fair access to this system, DeWitt will regulate this airspace. DeWitt reserves the right to limit and restrict access to the wireless airspace.  No one may install their own wireless access point as it may interfere with the installed units. Because the wireless infrastructure differs from the wired network, certain limits on bandwidth will be maintained.
In order to insure reliable access to the wireless network, air space must be free of devices that could cause interference. The airspace at DeWitt will be monitored for interfering devices. Should any such device be found, the IT staff will notify the party of the issues concerned with the use of that device and require it to be removed/shut down.
